GratiTuesday - Fix it Man

Anyone who knows Kurt might be surprised to learn that, when we moved to Virginia, he didn't bring any tools with him.  Luckily I thought to bring along my "girly" tool box.  It's come in handy for doing minor repairs around our apartment and for hanging pictures, etc.  Needless to say, whenever someone in the ward has a "fix-it" issue, Kurt JUMPS at the chance to help out.  As long as they have tools, he's ON IT!!!  I'm grateful that he is always so willing to help.  This week was no exception.  A friend had a leaky toilet and he was there to help.  Little did we know, when we managed apartments early in our marriage, that he would learn how to fix anything and everything.  I don't recall EVER having to hire a repairman for ANYTHING!  I love my fix-it man!

SURPRISE!!!! HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!!!!

Happy Father's Day Kurt ~ I hope you're having a GREAT day today! I have a little surprise for you. Remember how hectic things were the month before you left for Virginia? I remember looking at your "to do" list and thinking, "there is absolutely NO way he's EVER going to get all of those things done!" Well, with the exception of cleaning your workshop, YOU DID! I know it drove you crazy to pack it up and leave without tidying up. Every time I walked by the door to your shop I would smile because it literally looked like a tornado (you working like a madman) had touched down in our basement! Do you remember?????

Ahhhhh.....Your workshop!!!

The pathway......

The sawdust....

The chaos....

The utter destruction!!!

Hmmmm... now where was that tool? (I'm positive you knew where everything was, but the question was, would you really remember when we moved back here in 2-3 years?)

One day I had a thought.... I thought "wouldn't it be nice if Kurt didn't have to come home and clean this mess up someday?" Sooooo.....I went to work. I worked for an entire week. Tyler came one day and helped too. Alax helped me move the heavy things on Saturday.....

DON'T PANIC! I promise I didn't throw anything important away ;-)

I swept, and swept, and sneezed, and swept some more.

I found a place for everything. (You can rearrange things where you want them when we move back.)

Now everything has a place in these nice storage cabinets.

Things are hung up.....

Dusted off...

And sorted into these bins - i.e. electrical, plumbing, welding/soldering, pipe fittings, screws, nails, etc. etc..... oh, and there's one bin labeled "what the heck is this tool???"

I cleared away all of your power tools....

and put them back in their cases...

all of your tools are now in a TOOL BOX...

Sorry to say that I couldn't figure out how to put the socket set back in it's case, so....this is the best I could do.

I hope you will smile and know that I just wanted to help.
please don't be mad ;-)
Love you!
Tam

SATURDAY WORK & PLAY

Kurt is still breaking up granite to lay the 1st course of block for the Great Wall of Placerville (our retaining wall). He's hoping this is the last bit of rock and that the rest will be smooth sailing. I won't hold my breath. We must be wise to build our house upon a rock!!!

This afternoon we saw the most charming movie. "Up" was definitely one of the best movies I've seen this year. I laughed, I cried, and then I laughed some more. It had all the elements of a perfect movie (comedy, action, drama and romance), not to mention a wonderfully, wholesome message of true love. I'll be buying this when it's released on DVD.

Busy day for Kurt

Today Kurt had quite an exciting/exhausting day. He had the root tips extracted on tooth #10 and a dental implant placed. The tooth that broke on our vacation to Oregon has just been "hanging" there all week. Dr. Kiholm determined it wasn't savable so we decided this was a much better option than going with a bridge. He stopped by our office on the way to Roseville for the surgery. We needed to take one last x-ray for insurance purposes. Goodbye flappy tooth!

Shandra LOVES taking x-rays!

Since Kurt was feeling NO pain after his procedure, Tyler and I decided this would be as good a time as any to remove his stitches.

I think it took us longer to take the stitches OUT than it took the Dr. in Oregon to put them IN!

Fishing at Comanche

One of the birthday presents I gave Kurt this year was a guided fishing trip. I arranged with Jeff at C&C Outdoor Adventures to take him out for a day on the lake. Dean Grundy went along and they had a great time.

They went fishing for trout on Lake Comanche. Kurt had a sore head and mouth from his little accident but still managed to catch some fish.

Small fish...

and not-so-small fish!

Thank you Jeff for making this such a nice birthday for Kurt!
And thank you Dean for taking such great photos!

Not only did Kurt come home with the fish HE caught today.....

He came home with the fish EVERYONE caught today! Yum! Can't wait to have a fish fry!
