Doin' a Little Better

Alyssa is doing better today. Her cheeks are still swollen but she seems to be recovering from her surgery. She's cutting back on the pain meds and had energy to shower today. YAY! This afternoon I drove over to their house to take some dinner (soft food - i.e. mashed potatoes and jello, etc.) Alax is taking such good care of her.

Pepper Proof

Yes, Annette, we DID plant those peppers.
Here's proof.

GORGEOUS SUNSET

I had to take a photo of this amazing sight tonight as I was driving down my street just after 8:30 p.m. Breathtaking!

AM I INSANE???

I have officially signed up for my first full Marathon! My goal has always been to run one before I'm 50, so here goes nothing! The race will be held November 14, 2009 and will be along the American River Bike Trail from Folsom to Sacramento. I'll be running with friends from Georgetown and Cameron Park. Wish me luck! I'll need it.

Tomorrow starts a pretty grueling training program - provided by Terry Tuttle who will be running with us.

Placerville Founder's Day Celebration and Wagon Train

Today Kurt and I attended the Founder's Day Celebration on Historic Main Street here in Placerville. The Highway 50 Wagon Train arrived this afternoon after a week long trek from Zephyr Cove, Nevada over Echo Summit and down Highway 50, commemorating the great migration during the Gold Rush. The Wagon Train made stops in Meyers, Strawberry Lodge, Kyburz, Fresh Pond, and High Hill Ranch before the finale in Placerville. There were living history exhibits and re-enactments, gem-panning, fire engine displays, pony rides, costume contests, and great food and music. Here are a few of the photos I took today....

Congratulations Kim and Andrew!!

Tonight I attended a wedding reception for Kim Dutcher and Andrew Curry. What a fun celebration they had. Yummy food, beautiful decorations and great dancing!

Kim and Drew cutting the cake.

Tasting the cake. I'm always SO happy when the bride and groom don't shove cake in each other's faces!
Kim looked beautiful in her mother's wedding dress.

Kate and Tyler on the dance floor. Kate was one of the bridesmaids.

Annette and Michael Dalton.

Tami and Tyler. First time I've ever danced with him.

Cute couple Kate and Tyler.

I loved the strawberry trees they had at the chocolate table.

Best Wishes to the Bride and Groom!!!!

Indian Cuisine

Tonight Kurt and I met the LaLonde's at Hemalaya's restaurant in Cameron Park.
I've never eaten Indian food, so this was quite a treat.

The sampler platter. This was definitely outside my comfort zone. I tried most everything though.

Kurt and I shared the Feast Platter. I was up for anything....as long as lamb wasn't involved.
It was pretty good.

Close up of the sizzling Feast Platter.

FREE MOVIE WEDNESDAY

I had the day off today so I met Tara and her kiddos in El Dorado Hills for Free Movie Wednesday! We saw Madagascar Escape 2 Africa. It was such a cute movie. I think I enjoyed it as much as the kids did. We bought popcorn and drinks and only had 3 potty breaks during the movie. Pretty good for 5 kids I'd say! I'll be buying this DVD.

Mia and the boys enjoying their candy before the movie starts.

The kids wanted to go to Round Table Pizza afterwards. I think I know why..... ;)
They did eat a little pizza too.

I sure do miss the Ditlevsen's since they moved to Rancho Cordova.....

And it was fun to finally get a little cuddle time with Ben. He's such a love.
