Midnight in Paris

Tonight I went with my friends, Lynne, Susan, Alicia, Patsy and Carrie to see "Midnight in Paris" in Folsom. There were mixed reviews among us, regarding the movie (I really liked it), but I think we all agreed it was fun to get out and have some girlfriend time!
I REALLY want to go to Paris someday....

While the Hubby's Away.....

Kurt's out of town again this week, so I hijacked our Netflix account with Anne of Green Gables. I absolutely love this series! I think Anne and I are "kindred spirits."

Budget Date Night

I love a bargain! Tonight our date night consisted of dinner at TGI Friday's (buy one entree, get one entree free), and 2 tickets to see "Beastly," purchased through livingsocial.com (2 tickets for $9.00). Total savings = $22.50! Woot Woot!!!

Out on the Town

Our date night has changed from Friday night to Wednesday night. Friday nights are just too crazy around here. There's at least a 1 hour wait at every restaurant we go to, and the movie theaters are packed. Since we usually go exploring on Saturdays, we decided, "Why not spread the fun out over the week?" This has worked out pretty well until last night. My plan was to go to Cici's Pizza for dinner and then to go bowling at Bowl America. Dinner went without a hitch, but bowling didn't happen. It's league night on Wednesday night. We'll have to change our date night to Thursday night if we ever want to bowl I guess. Plan B was to see "The Green Hornet." It's only playing in 3-D and it kills me to pay $15 per ticket to see a movie, but I had coupons and a free pass. It's a good thing, because the movie was pretty lame. Oh well, date night is still my favorite night of the week!

FREE MOVIE WEDNESDAY

I had the day off today so I met Tara and her kiddos in El Dorado Hills for Free Movie Wednesday! We saw Madagascar Escape 2 Africa. It was such a cute movie. I think I enjoyed it as much as the kids did. We bought popcorn and drinks and only had 3 potty breaks during the movie. Pretty good for 5 kids I'd say! I'll be buying this DVD.

Mia and the boys enjoying their candy before the movie starts.

The kids wanted to go to Round Table Pizza afterwards. I think I know why..... ;)
They did eat a little pizza too.

I sure do miss the Ditlevsen's since they moved to Rancho Cordova.....

And it was fun to finally get a little cuddle time with Ben. He's such a love.

DATE NIGHT w/ TYLER

- DATE NIGHT

Tonight we had a triple date. We met the Barlow's at Hong Kong Inn for Chinese food and then we all caught up with the Johnson's at the movie theatre and saw "New in Town". It was fun to get together. The movie was hilarious. I sure love our friends. Thank you Dave and Nancy for such a thoughtful Christmas present!

- REDBOX IS MY FRIEND

Last night, after work, I stopped at Walmart with my free Redbox code and rented "Henry Poole Is Here." I watched it after work tonight. It was a pretty good movie. I've been taking it easy for the last couple of weeks, reading a lot and watching quite a few movies. It's all part of my "relax and slow down" New Year's Resolution. It feels nice for a change ;)

- COMIC RELIEF

After starting the week out on such a bad note and not feeling well all week, it was good to go see a movie that made us laugh. Tyler joined us at the movie. We ate popcorn and laughed every time someone sat close to us. (It never fails, no matter how many seats are available in a theater, people sit either directly in front of, in back of, or right next to us. We've decided some people have no concept of personal space ;)

We gave this movie a 3 1/2 out of 5. Kevin James was hilarious.

Later, Kurt helped Tyler make a perch for his birds. This one has suction cups so the perch will attach to a window. Now Baby and Marley can look outside.

Kate came over after work and hung out while Tyler and Kurt finished making the perch. Here, Tyler and Kate model the finished project.

We all went to Mel's Diner for dinner. Kate and I played table football while we waited for our food. Fun times!

RECOVERY - DAY 2

This morning we managed to sleep in a little. We woke up to a beautiful sunrise. (This is the view we see from our bed).

We played with the Wii Fit that Santa brought us. I was relieved that my Body Mass Index falls within normal range ;)

My goal - to lose 10.7 lbs before March 21st. Wish me luck!

My center of balance was WAY better than Kurt's. I guess those yoga classes have paid off ;)

We went to see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button tonight. It was pretty long and a little slow, but a really sweet, touching movie. 3 1/2 stars.

We had dinner at a new restaurant in Placerville - Cascada. YUM. Thank you Dr. Kiholm for such a nice Christmas present!!! I had the lobster enchiladas and Kurt had the steak burrito.

We walked down Placerville's Historic Main Street after dinner and decided to have an ice cream cone at "What's The Scoop."

Kurt ordered Butter Pecan and Pistachio.

They were out of my favorite - Caramel Cookie Dough, so I had Pistachio. Just what I needed. I'll have to get back on the treadmill before I do Wii Fit again. I have a feeling my BMI has taken a turn for the worse.

We stopped at a Red Box and rented Meet Dave on the way home. I ended up falling asleep (what's new?) but Kurt said it was okay - 2 out of 5.......

RECOVERY - DAY 1

Our first day of vacation. Kurt and I took the week off to rest from the festivities. We slept in and then got busy cleaning up from Christmas/Wedding.

No comment on what Kurt's doing here. I'm sure it was a legal burn. Yard waste only.

All of the Wedding/Christmas wrapping paper, boxes and bags were disposed of in the proper manner. I'm sure of it.

We took leftover food from the reception, i.e. sheet cake, etc., to the local soup kitchen. We got there just before dinner was served. They were glad to see us come.

We spent the rest of the day/night laying around, napping and watching DVD's. I liked "Horton Hears a Who." I'll have to buy this one. I really think Kelsey and Abbey would like it.

I pretty much slept through this one, but Kurt liked it.

- TWILIGHT

Tonight we finally went to see the much talked about movie Twilight. I read the series. Kurt didn't. He liked it more than I did. The characters just didn't measure up to the descriptions in the book and since Kurt had no expectations, he wasn't disappointed. It was a good movie though. Can't wait to see the next one.

We thought we might have the theater to ourselves....until abut 1 minute before the movie started and we were joined by 6-8 giggling tweeners.

We haven't had an official "date" for weeks. After the movie we met Debbie and Mark Perkins at Cascada's, a new Mexican restaurant in Placerville. I had the pork medallions in chipotle sauce and Kurt had the lobster enchiladas. This may be a new favorite restaurant for us. We stopped at "What's the Scoop" for ice cream before going home. Fun night!

- FRIDAY FUN

This afternoon I had lunch with my friends Annette and Wendy. They were in my ward when we lived in Tracy. Annette was my Bishop's wife and grew up in Brigham City, not far from where I grew up. Wendy was my visiting teacher and I taught her daughter in seminary. They both moved up the hill shortly after we came here. Annette lives in Cameron Park and Wendy in El Dorado Hills. We used to meet for lunch monthly but we haven't been able to get together for a few months due to conflicting schedules, etc. We had lunch at Maui Taco in Folsom and caught up on each other's lives. It was so good to see them!

Later in the afternoon, Kurt and I met Alax at AT&T where he got a new iPhone. Kurt told the salesperson that we'd like to add our son-in-law to our family plan. Our family is growing! ;)

Kurt and I had a nice night together. We went and saw "Nights in Rodanthe" (my choice). I'd read the book a couple of years ago and was anxious to see if the movie was as good. I wasn't disappointed. It was definitetly rated 5 kleenex though. We did some shopping at Costco and then went to dinner at Red Robin. Kurt just couldn't seem to stay off the phone at the restaurant. Hazzards of being in the Bishopric ;)

We had to try the onion ring appetizer. The only problem was, we weren't hungry when our entree's came. We took most of our meal home with us. Fun night!

- BREAKFAST AT TIFFANY'S

This week at work we were discussing our favorite movies. One of my co-workers mentioned that she loves all of Audrey Hepburn's movies and that her favorite is Breakfast at Tiffany's. I said I'd never seen it. Everyone gasped. This morning she brought the movie to me and insisted that I watch it. Since Kurt was working a mid-shift tonight, his third this week, I put my jammies on and watched it. What a great movie. I'll need to watch this again when I don't have so many interruptions i.e. phone calls, etc.

- MAMMA MIA

I've been waiting for this movie for quite sometime. Kurt and Tyler reluctantly agreed to see it with me this afternoon. They tolerated it and I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED it!!!! I laughed, I cried, and then I bought the soundtrack. The critics hated it (which usually means I'll like it). They seemed to think Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan ruined it with their singing (as did Tyler and Kurt). I thought they were charming. Very sweet, romantic movie! I'll be buying this as soon as it comes out on DVD! LOVED IT!!!
