HI HO CHERRY-O!!!

This afternoon Kurt and I drove to Marysville to visit Kurt's co-worker Pierre and his family. They own an organic kiwi orchard and have lots of cherry trees also. Pierre wanted us to come and pick cherries and stay for dinner. They also invited Dave and Neena and their son Austin.

Dave, Kurt and Pierre checking out the orchard.

I always assumed that kiwis grew on trees. They actually grow on vines - BIG vines! When we drove in I thought we were seeing grape vineyards. It was pretty cool.

Pam, showing Austin one of their sheep.

Kurt, climbing the orchard ladder to pick the cherries at the top.

I'm not much of a ladder person. I start with both feet on the ground.

Okay, maybe a few steps up the ladder.

Pierre and Pam had at least a dozen cats on their property. I had to take a picture of this. Kurt's not much of a cat lover. I may never see this again.

Kurt and Pierre, shooting the breeze.

Enjoying Pierre's backyard.

Sweet little kitties.

Pam with the turkey they raised, killed and cooked just for us. (Have I ever mentioned my many food issues?)

This turkey was HUGE!

Carving away.

I'll have to admit, it was pretty tasty.

What a fun day!
